Floresta da Tijuca 1980
Overview: The history of reforestation that took place in the mid-19th century, on the top of Tijuca. With the clearing of the primitive forest to plant coffee plantations, the springs in the region dried up and affected the water supply of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Correcting the ecological imbalance, Emperor Pedro II expropriated the local farms and appointed Manuel Gomes Archer for the task.
